While John loved discovering new places, he often found airports to be a source of stress and confusion. Navigation signage was unclear, maps were inconsistent, and finding basic amenities like food and restrooms was always an adventure. This was especially true at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which he frequented for work trips.

After one too many frustrating experiences rushing through terminals trying to find his gate, John decided there had to be a better way. Why was information so scattershot and hard to find for such a major airport hub?

In 2016, after yet another delayed flight due to getting lost in KLIA, John hatched the idea for AirportMY.com over coffee with his girlfriend Sarah Tan, who often accompanied him on trips. Together, they envisioned a website dedicated to unraveling the maze that is KLIA and providing travelers with easy access to navigation tips, dining options, amenities, and anything else one might need in an airport.

John and Sarah spent late nights researching and mapping out the airport terminals. They walked miles discovering restaurants, lounges, and stores, compiling comprehensive listings. After months of hard work, AirportMY.com launched in 2017, quickly becoming a trusted resource for simplified airport navigation.

Now, John continues his passion project alongside Sarah, improving and expanding the website daily. His goal is to eventually cover all airports across Malaysia.
